Inauguration of Gandhi 150 -People\'s Meet Yatra in Chennai

The world is celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Khudai Khidmatgar Tamil Nadu unit with Social Harmony Front, Ekta Parishad, Tamil Nadu Women\'s Federation, Sadbhavna Sangham, TASOSS, and friendly organizations took an initiative to organize People\'s Meet Yatra in 23 districts of Tamil Nadu, covering 150 villages and 150 Colleges, 150 Schools. 

 

The yatra inaugurated at the Pachaiyappa\'s College, a historical Institution. The event Chaired by Social Harmony Front Leader Kodikkal Sheikh Abdullah, presided by D.K.OZA, Retd IAS, Ex Vice-Chancellor, Gandhi Gram University, Social Activist Geethamma, Deputy Police Commissioner Thirunavukkarasu, TASOSS Director REV. Albert Thambidurai, CII South Region Director Dr. Deepamala, Human Rights Activist Rev. Dr. MC Rajan, Ekta Parishad Co-Ordinator Nagalingam, Tamil Nadu Women\'s Federation Secretary Shanti, Pachaiyppas College Principal Dr. Arul Mozhi Chelvan, Khudai Khidmatgar Leaders Advocate Sivakumar, Inamul Hasan, Mayaraj presented at this occasion. 

The Yatra vehicle flag-Off and inaugurated by Senior Social Activist and founder of Sumai Thangi organization Jayalakshmi Amma. Soon after the inauguration, series of meetings organized in Swamy Vivekananda House with various social Activists, followed by a rally in slum areas near Kotturpuram in Chennai and meeting with the college students at DB Jain Arts and Science College, Chennai.

 

There are 3 vehicles consist of 15 yatrees, most of them are Youths from Rural areas among those traveling, to promote the Gandhian Values, especially, Peace, Unity, and harmony.

 

During the yatra we are conducting Photo Exhibition and Documentary on Gandhi screening at Schools, Colleges and Villages, followed by Interactions and meetings. The yatra began on 2nd October will culminate on 22nd October at Kanyakumari.
